- Material properties: NovaNox® silicone hoses are manufactured using mandrel tools. High-quality silicone layers and fabric inserts are successively wound over the tool and vulcanized. The vulcanization process permanently fuses the polyester inserts/fabric inserts and the VMQ (silicone rubber) together. The result is a dimensionally stable and dense silicone hose.
- Pressure resistance: NovaNox® silicone hoses are made from the most modern and highest quality silicone with several polyester inserts for optimum reinforcement. NovaNox® silicone hoses are pressure resistant up to 20 bar (depending on the number of polyester inserts and diameter, see data sheet).
- Temperature resistance: NovaNox® silicone hoses are particularly characterized by their permanent temperature resistance from -50°C to +180°C (up to +220°C for short periods)
- Extensive media suitability: Our silicone hoses are resistant to abrasive media such as chemicals, alkalis and acids. The silicone hoses are designed for the passage of hot air and coolant. The charge air hoses are not suitable for the passage of oil (gasoline & diesel) and fuel. Oil and fuel splashes on the outer wall of the hose are not a problem. High resistance to ageing and weathering round off the requirements profile of a robust charge air hose.
- Absolute accuracy of fit: One quality feature is the absolute accuracy of fit of NovaNox® charge air hoses. Despite their robustness, NovaNox® silicone hoses can be flexibly stretched up to 3 millimetres in diameter in the event of slight deviations at the point to be fitted.
- Excellent material properties: Another quality feature of NovaNox® charge air hoses and radiator hoses is their elasticity. This means that constant engine vibrations, braking and pulling movements can be compensated for effortlessly. Thanks to their lightweight properties, NovaNox® silicone hoses also offer significant weight savings.
- Challenging areas of application: Charge air hoses are used in engines with a turbocharger and serve as an important connection between the turbocharger and the combustion chamber. The compressed air from the turbocharger is fed through the charge air hose directly into the combustion chamber. The compressed air ensures better and more efficient combustion in the combustion chamber. This process increases engine performance and enables significant savings in fuel consumption. Charge air hoses are therefore constantly exposed to high temperatures, vibrations and pressure. The permanent mechanical stresses also increase the demanding requirements for a robust and reliable charge air hose. Premature material fatigue can lead to a severe loss of engine performance and significantly increase fuel consumption. Cooling water hoses are an important component of engine cooling, as combustion engines convert generated energy into heat. To prevent the engines from overheating, the heat generated must be dissipated. This task is performed by the coolant.
- Demanding areas of application: NovaNox® silicone hoses are used in mechanical engineering, plant engineering and vehicle construction as cooling water hoses or charge air hoses. Areas of application include commercial vehicles (trucks), construction machinery, agricultural machinery, cars, motorcycles, ships and boats as well as aerospace technology.
- Outstanding quality: To ensure flawless use, the pressure, heat resistance and vibration resistance are tested and bending tests are carried out. The result is outstanding quality, which is regularly certified by TÜV SÜD in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard.
